Police have said they are “extremely concerned” for the safety and whereabouts of Amy Shorrock, 34, and her son Andrew, aged 4.  They were last seen in Tameside near Manchester at Friday lunchtime.

The family of the missing pair have said they are “extremely worried” and have urged Amy to get in touch.

Chief Inspector Chris Downey, said, “We are extremely concerned about Amy and Andrew, and I would like to appeal directly to Amy to please get in touch with us to let us know you are both safe and well.

“Yours and Andrew’s welfare is our priority, so please make contact with us.

“Amy’s mother Deborah Shorrock wants to appeal directly to Amy to come home safely with Andrew as she is extremely worried about them.  “I would also ask the public for their help – if you have seen Amy and Andrew then please call us.”

Joanne Ward Shorrock, Amy’s aunt, has said the family are beside themselves with worry and are urging people who may have seen them to get in contact.

She went on to say that her niece travelled to the city with her son and withdrew cash.

On Facebook, she posted, “PLEASE can anyone help. My niece Amy Shorrock has gone missing with her son. Last seen on Penny Meadow in Ashton-under-Lyne around 11am this morning.

“It’s now believed that she could have gone on public transport to Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester. I can’t stress enough just how important it is that they are found.

“If you know anything then please contact me or the police. Thank you.”

Amy is described as being 5ft 6in tall, medium build with long dark hair.  She was last seen wearing a black top and carrying a blue rucksack.

Andrew has short brown hair and slim built for his age.
